Nikolas Kemna was born in 07.07.2004 in Bochum, Germany. Three years later his family settled permanently in Berlin.

Nikolas received his first violin and piano lessons at the age of three after witnessing his older sister attending music lessons and insisting to receive such himself. In the following years he demonstrated a strong interest in music and besides receiving lessons in violin and piano he soon broadened his musical education receiving lessons in solfeggio, musical theory and composition.

2014, at the age of ten, Nikolas has been admitted as a violinist at the Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach in Berlin (a school for exceptionally gifted young musicians, which combines instrumental education with formal school education), where he currently attends school in Grade 11.

2019 Nikolas has been also admitted as a junior student at the Universität der Künste (University of the Arts), Berlin, where he studies violin with Peter Rainer.
His former violin teachers are Sieglinde Essaadi, Prof.Johannes Kittel and Alexander Ramm.

Nikolas has attended masterclasses with Prof.Jacqueline Ross (Guildhall School of Music and Drama London, UK), Prof.Olga Zolotareva (Conservatory Gent, Belgium), Prof.Petru Munteanu (Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum, Universität Augsburg, Germany), Prof.Wegrzyn (HMTM Hannover, Germany), Florin Parvulescu (San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, USA), Prof.Annette Unger (Hochschule für Musik, Dresden, Germany), Prof.Hong Wang (Beijing Conservatory, China), Prof.Herwig Zack (HfM, Würzburg, Germany)

Nikolas has performed as a soloist with the Kammerakademie Potsdam and the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt Oder where he worked with the conductors Ben Glasberg, Monica Wollinska, Stanley Dodds and Jürgen Bruhns.
A generous invitation to Moscow resulting from his outstanding performance at the Märkische Musiktage International Competition led him to his first concerts abroad. In Moscow he performed at the House of German-Russian Relations and at the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts.
Nikolas has won twice a school wide competition at the Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (a school for exceptionally gifted young musicians) and has then performed twice as a soloist with the Orchestra of the school in concerts at the Konzerthaus Berlin with the conductor Samuel Lee.
Nikolas has also been awarded prizes at national an international violin competitions. Please view the list bellow.

Chamber music is another great passion of Nikolas. After performing violin or piano in different small ensembles from a very young age on, he found at his school a great duo partner, the pianist Maria Eydman. Nikolas and Maria work together since 2017 and have performed in Berlin, Potsdam and Rheinsberg, Germany.
A new chamber music project has brought Nikolas together with the guitarist Fritz Geschner. Both currently work on a program with music by Nicolo Paganini and Astor Piazolla. Concerts are planned for 2021.
